The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT was unveiled on February 9th at the Chicago Auto Show and it’s even better than we were expecting! A sleek exterior redesign coupled with a modern and functional interior takes the Elantra to the next level. In our opinion, the Elantra was always an attractive car that got better with every new model year but Hyundai really hit it home with the 2018 model. Sporty yet classy, this redesign will easily appeal to everyone.
The Elantra GT will offer a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 162 hp and available six-speed manual and automatic transmission. The Elantra GT Sport model gets a new 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The sport model also comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, instead of the standard 17-inch, and it also receives larger front and rear brake rotors. The Elantra sport also uses almost double the amount of high-strength steel, improving its overall driving dynamics. All of these improvements are sure to take your driving experience to new heights.
Venturing inside, you’ll find a brand new infotainment system, which is deemed by Hyundai as more responsive than any of its predecessors. The 8 inch touchscreen (formerly 7) is now a standalone unit in the middle of the dashboard and is no longer embedded like the ones before it. It’s certainly a different look but we can appreciate its uniqueness – plus we’re always open to new things! The infotainment system also includes features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as wireless smartphone charging and dual-zone climate control. The Elantra is also Alexa-compatible, so drivers can set their car’s temperature ahead of time with Amazon Echo or Dot. Very technology-friendly!
Most importantly, the 2018 Elantra has all the safety features you could ever want. Available automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop/start capability all make for the safest driving experience.
